Week 27 AI Lab Review: Superconductor Research Summary
Week 27 Research Review
Analysis
Week 27's nominal Tc maxima cannot be accepted at face value. The Day 4 top five all sit at exactly 60.0 GPa, the lower bound of the stability window used, and the Day 5 top five are all capped at exactly 280.0 K, which indicates a pressure-boundary artifact and a Tc saturation or clipping artifact in the screening pipeline. The Day 2 maximum of 231.7 K at 196.9 GPa also lies near the 200 GPa upper bound, so its optimum may sit outside the sampled range. The most credible and practically relevant lead is Day 3, Li2(Mg0.55Ca0.45-xREx)(B1-zAlz)H16, which keeps a Tc of about 184 K down to 78.6 GPa, a pressure accessible in standard diamond-anvil-cell work. All external reviewers raise the same deficiencies: no explicit compositions or crystal structures, no phonon or convex-hull stability data, no stated DFT functional or convergence tests, an undefined Tc method (Allen-Dynes vs. Eliashberg, choice of mu*), and unbalanced synthesis reactions. Week 28 should therefore put verification and calibration first, then narrow the promising low-pressure Day 3 space with full stability analysis. It should also test one unexplored cross-family combination of the Day 2 Na/Be-B sublattice with Day 3 rare-earth doping. Finally, it should produce balanced synthesis routes and computed experimental fingerprints (XRD, Raman, isotope coefficient) so that predictions can be checked in diamond-anvil-cell experiments.
