Week 26 AI Lab Review: Superconductor Research Summary
Week 26 Research Review
Analysis
Week 26 produced a clear performance hierarchy. The Be-free analogues (Day 5, 284.1 K at 146.3 GPa) and B-substitution on the Be site (Day 3, 268.2 K at 171.9 GPa) far outperformed the parent Li2(Mg0.55Ca0.45)BeH16 baseline, which reached about 173 K in the Day 4 isotope set. Alkali Na/K substitution on the Li site (Day 1, 193.2 K) gave only modest gains, and its optimum sits near the 250 GPa ceiling, which suggests that larger alkali cations mainly add lattice strain rather than raise the hydrogen-derived density of states at EF. Rare-earth doping (Day 2) is the only route that brought the operating pressure down to about 58–69 GPa, but Tc saturated near 104 K with an extremely flat top-5 distribution. That flatness suggests the RE content mainly tunes the carrier count rather than the phonon spectrum. Gemini's feedback was consistent across all days: the reports lacked dynamical stability (phonon) checks, convex-hull and formation-enthalpy data, and disclosure of the DFT functional, the alloy-modeling scheme (VCA vs. SQS) and the Coulomb pseudopotential (mu*). The near-room-temperature Tc values therefore remain unverified, and the tight clustering of Day 3 and Day 5 results (about 267–268 K and 272–284 K) may reflect a surrogate-model plateau rather than genuine physics. Week 27 should first rigorously validate the two headline leads. It should then transfer the proven low-pressure RE strategy to the high-Tc B/Al frameworks and add synthesis, metastability and experimental-signature modeling to judge diamond-anvil-cell feasibility.
